What is Neurofashion®?
Neurofashion® is a new field of study that applies the methodologies of Cognitive Sciences, Neurosciences, Psychology and behavioural Economy to the world of fashion to analyse the reactions of the human brain to fashion stimuli.
This field has been outlined for the first time by the Professor of this course – Chiara Salomone – who, based on her studies, has highlighted the link between one’s personality and his fashion choices. These are not just simple preferences, sensations and emotions since they are the natural expression of one’s inner self.
The aesthetic choices tell much of a person, beyond the moment in which they are made and the context that influences them.
Why participate in the Neurofashion® course?
By taking part in the Neurofashion® course you can learn that fashion is first and foremost about people, sensation, perceptions, and also memories. The world of fashion cannot be ridiculed to mere frivolity, since it is also communication and social interaction. Stylists, producers, retailers and customers, think, take decisions, and solve problems: fashion is psychology. Although the fashion world has been seen anecdotally in psychological terms for centuries, applying psychology to fashion is an innovation.
The common understanding of psychology applied to fashion is an interpretation of what clothing tells about us, however psychology takes a lot more into account. People are involved in every aspect of fashion: design, production, advertising, marketing, visual merchandising, etailing, consumption and disposal. Thus, adopting a scientific and psychological approach allows us to understand human behaviour in the fashion context.
